I chose this topic as I read the books in the series as a child (I have been searching every wardrobe ever since for Narnia), and related to the simple fairytale and the desire to do what is right which is a recurring theme. Now as I have grown older and perhaps, some might hopefully would say wiser I realize the far deeper themes in literature I enjoyed in my youth. This is my favourite example of this evolution of my thinking on fairytales, the overt Christian themes especially in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe where they are overt throughout the novel are a prime example of how children's literature can contain themes that are beyond their years. Discovering these themes is what encouraged me to pursue more information about the major themes of what I was interested in as part of the series, which are; sexism, Christianity and wanting to die. These themes are explored in different articles across this website.
